Humpday Rewind is a weekly post of photographs that are (ideally) over a year old. What for? Because sometimes all we (I) need is a little bit of nostalgia to get us (me) through the week.

Now I laugh thinking I actually believed this was a winning shot…

The unprocessed photo above was the entry I submitted after a day-long food photography workshop I attended exactly a year and nine days ago. I never got to write a proper post about it (except for this reg bit) but it had undoubtedly been a very insightful event with the masters Mark Floro and Lori Baltazar. There I learned how to tinker with and maximize my then month-old Nick, how difficult it is to shoot piaya, barquillos,  and left-over rice, and that I may have a knack for food styling (‘Di ba Smarla? :-P).

Obviously, I didn’t win, but seeing how my food photos have evolved from when I started to how they are now exceeds any reward I hoped for that day. And yes, that’s another item added to my list of “Things I owe Miss DCF“. :-D

Hump day, noun:

The absolute BEST day of the week, the day of maximum hope that maybe, you might make it out of this week alive. A particularly good hump day can last you the rest of the week, and by Doomday morning (Monday) you survive by anticipating hump day. Nothing goes wrong on hump day.
